Fancy Cake Tables

One of the best ways to dress up your Edmonton wedding and add that something spectacular is through the ‘fancy tables’ — the cake table, the sign-in table and the head table.  Dressing up these tables and making them special is also key because they are key photograph points.

Black, White and Bling!

An incredible wedding at the Hotel MacDonald.  The venue is so beautiful on its own and then we added in European Jacquard linens, Ruched chair covers and to top it all off – lots of bling!  The beautiful bride Chrissy brought in crystal chandelier centerpieces, swarovski crystals and coordinated it with A Chair to Remember’s custom-made rhinestone cuffs.  Such a treat to work with a great venue, a great team and above all – a bride with such great taste! To see the professional pictures, please visit Mint Photography:   http://www.mintphotographysquamish.com/

Bridal Shower – Private Cooking Lesson

There are so many cool ideas now for bridal showers.  I recently attended and decorated a really great shower for my future sister-in-law Jen: RedTail Golf Course hosted a private cooking class for our group of seven – the head chef Dean Stefanic and his team showed us how to cook everything from hand-made sauces to Chicken Kiev to Peaches Flambe.  One word – WOW!  While we nibbled on appetizers and sipped our wine, we also learned some fantastic recipes and shared a wonderful experience bonding with each other and celebrating Jen’s upcoming marriage.  Since then, all of us have been busy trying these recipes and impressing our own families and friends…of course, I pretend that I always could cook that well…Image

Tent Wedding: Fresh white and yellow wedding decor.

Last summer we had the absolute pleasure of working with a bride planning a tent wedding. Her color scheme was very fresh, using crisp whites and bright yellows.

Knowing ahead of time that tent was going to be white and the centerpieces were going to be an eclectic combination of white, clear glass and yellow items we decided ahead of time that a complimentary color was needed to break up all the white and yellow. This is where the decision was made to use a silver sash as a slim table runner. It provided just enough contrast that the centerpieces did not get lost against the expanse of white table linen and chair covers. The silver charger plates added a bit of sparkle and contrast as well.

The things Kim and I truly loved about this wedding were:

  • the use of a sash, wrapped double thick around every second chair, it kept the yellow as a significant color without becoming overwhelming
  • the eclectic centerpieces, how fun is it to have each one be different yet cohesive?
  • the use of the silver sash to break up the white table linen, it gave those centerpieces just a little more POP!
  • the silver charger plates, they elevated a fun and fresh tent wedding into a true dining experience
  • of course, the bride! She was an absolute pleasure to work with 🙂

Until next time!

Always the right team, the right linens, the right style.

Decorating for your venue, and not necessarily your wedding colors.

Many brides get stuck on the color of their bridesmaids dresses – and often feel that these colors NEED to be part of their wedding decor.

We often tell clients that their bridesmaids do not need to match the table linen, and that often paying attention to the details of the location that their wedding is in will help in making all the appropriate decor choices for them. Just because your bridesmaids are wearing lilac, it does not mean that it needs to be the main color choice in your wedding decor. You can use that ‘wedding color’ as an accent color, or even go in another direction completely and decorate the room in such a way you pay homage to the venue itself.

This past summer we did a STUNNING wedding in the Wedgewood Room Fairmont Hotel MacDonald (to die for!!!) in Edmonton. The bridesmaids were wearing really fun light periwinkle-ish blue dresses and carrying yellow roses. Interestingly enough the fashion forward bride worked closely with Kim on her decor choices and made the decision to pay honor to the location of the wedding and chose linens that were slightly elaborate, detailed, neutral and overall classy. The result was wedding decorated in such a way that it looked like a seamless  and natural fit for the Wedgewood Room.

See the photos of the guest table design below. These photos were provided to us by Kat Gill @ Katch Photography and are absolutely beautiful.

Until next time,

Bridal Fantasy Booth Recap

Yesterday A Chair to Remember participated in Bridal Fantasy. We have been part of this amazing show for 3 years now, and each year it gets better and better!

Kim and I had a ton of fun designing our booth (this is one of those times we get to do exactly what we want each year) and this year we were inspired by a bag Kim had received as a christmas gift. We decided to do a wintery feeling booth with birch and fur accents and tons of candles to warm it all up. It must have been popular because our booth was packed all day with potential clients and other vendors from the bridal show, and often I would see people standing in front of our stall just smiling. We both loved all the smiling!

Thanks so much to Haley Shandro of the award winning Shandro Photo for taking some beautiful photos for us. My iPhone was not doing it justice!

Wedding Table Setting Edmonton

Providing Linens all Over North America

Beautiful linens and decor are not just for brides getting married close to home.

We frequently get calls from brides who are having a destination wedding and want to spruce up their wedding decor a bit. Often, exotic locales do not have a reasonable selection of decor items, or the prices are just too high. Kim and I frequently pack ONE suitcase of linens that can make the trip overseas and provide our clients with the customized look they desire.

How do you accomplish wedding decor in a suitcase?

Tropical resorts often have nice wood chairs (chiavari or gladiator style) so there is no need for chair covers however, this is a fabulous time to use a brightly colored sash on the chairs to brighten things up a bit. Table linens are also provided by the resorts and adding a co-ordinating table runner on each guest table is a welcome addition to the tablescape. Then, finish off the head table with a fabulous piece of floor length coordinating linen ( 1 piece for 4 people, 2 pieces for a head table of 8 ) to complete a beautiful destination wedding look.

Shipping is also available to the NWT, Yukon and other parts of Canada. If you require these services please contact us.
